How Not to Hurry

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”   ~ Lao Tzu Consider the above quote from Lao Tzu, (perhaps mythical) father of Taoism: how can it be true? Is it possible not to hurry, but to get everything done? It seems contradictory to our modern world, where everything is a rush an everyone seems to not know how to not hurry, where we try to cram as much into every minute of the day as possible, where if we are not busy, we feel unproductive and lazy. This is why we need to learn how not to hurry. In fact, often we compete by trying to show how busy we are. I have a thousand projects to do! Oh yeah? I have 10,000! The winner is the person who has the most insane schedule, who rushes from one thing to the next with the energy of a hummingbird, because obviously that means he’s the most successful and important. So, if we know how to not to hurry, then would this make us insane? Right? Maybe not. Maybe we’re playing the wrong game — we’ve been conditioned to belie...

How to Clear Your Inbox When you’re Drowning: Email Sanity

The beauty of an empty inbox is a thing to behold. It is calming, peaceful and wonderful. See how you can clear your inbox and stop drowning in emails. An inbox that is overflowing with actions, urgent calls for responses, stuff to read … it’s chaos, it’s stressful, it’s overwhelming. I know you don’t like to clear your inbox but, once you do you will be much less stressed. A friend recently posted: “Help! I’m drowning in email!” Let’s look at how to get your head above water first, and then how to get safely to dry land after you clear you inbox. Head Above Water You need to give yourself some breathing room. De-cluttering your life also means to  declutter  your email inbox. A flooded inbox is overwhelming, and you don’t know where to start. So here’s where we’re going to start: 1. Create an “actions” folder or label in your email . This is where you’re going to store any emails that you need to take action on (other than just replying or filing or whatever). 2. Pick th...

Setting Goals: The Best Goal is No Goal

“With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now.”  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson The idea of having concrete, achievable goals seem deeply ingrained in our culture. I know I lived with setting goals for many years, and in fact a big part of my writings. These days, however, I live without goals, for the most part. It’s absolutely liberating, and contrary to what you might believe, it absolutely doesn’t mean you stop achieving things. It means you stop letting yourself be limited by goals. Consider this common belief: “You’ll never get anywhere unless you know where you’re going.” This seems so common sensical, and yet its obviously not true if you stop to think about it. Conduct a simple experiment: go outside and walk in a random direction, and feel free to change directions randomly. After 20 minutes, an hour … you’ll be somewhere! It’s just that you didn’t know you were going to end up there. And there’s the rub: you have to open your mind to going places you never ...

Christmas; Be Thankful for What You Have

Tomorrow morning my kids will be waking up with no Christmas presents. I am recently separated from my husband and I was doing good income wise, but then I ended up getting laid off. I have never had to go through this before in my life and I feel like a shit bag mom. I thought that for surely, I would be able to get my act together in time for Christmas, but it didn’t happen. I kept lying to myself and saying that I would get everything taken care of, and for me not to stress over it. Stressing over Christmas is kind of what parents do. I know that my kids won’t be too upset about the present situation, or at least they won’t act like it if they are, but it is the simple fact that I know when they go back to school on, the teachers and kids are going to be asking what they got for Christmas and my children aren’t going to be able to tell them. Now, here’s the kicker, their dad has another family and he wouldn’t know if his kids were doing alright or not because he never sees them...

Amazon Kindle Unlimited; Best Gift for Bookworms

As a person who often realms in finding information on what makes a person  act the way they act , I read a lot of books. Some might say that if I spent more time writing, instead of reading, I would probably be doing pretty well for myself. I can’t help it, I am a bookworm and as a bookworm, I read everything under the sun. My budget gets pretty tight by the end of the month, or use to anyways. I started trying to find a cheaper or inexpensive way to indulge in books without breaking my bank or cutting into the milk money. Amazon! I love Amazon because it has almost anything under the sun. One thing that I love about Amazon is their  Amazon Kindle Unlimited . This allows you to be able to read a variety of books for one low price of $9.99 and you can download these books onto your electronic device or you can read them on the internet using the Kindle Cloud Reader. What’s more is that they are now offering this in a package deal to give as a gift. You can purchase it fo...

Personal Stories Speech Ideas; How My Personal Story Helped In a Classroom

Telling personal stories while trying to teach a class can make you feel vulnerable, especially if you are like me and don’t like to talk about your past or the people that helped to create that past. I was told to do a class on heat and cold injuries in front of my peers. I was informed of this a month ago. I am a procrastinator, this is what I am and I am not proud of it. So, like most people who procrastinate, I put it off until the very last minute and then ran myself crazy trying to put it together. Death by PowerPoint; this is was not my intentions at all. I was originally told that I could get up in front of the class and do it but, a few days before the class I was informed that it had to be a power point. I freaked! I freaked because I had no earthly idea on how to even get started, I freaked because I hadn’t even studied on the class, I freaked because I was going to be put to shame in front of all of my peers. It was going to be a wreck and I felt like I had no control...

Things You Should Know when Getting a Divorce

Divorce can sometimes seem like it is one of the nastiest words that are around. You may have once viewed divorce as though it were something that only happened to couples who had fallen apart after only what had seemed like a wonderful marriage.  You never imagined yourself being the one to go through a divorce. Divorce has become more and more common everyday. You hear about celebrity divorces and maybe even your friends divorces but you never once thought that you would be telling someone about your divorce. Finding a support system could be all that you need to help you get through this rough patch in your life. A support system could be anyone that you feel comfortable enough to talk to when you are feeling down or just need some company. Many divorced people also seek professional help such as a counselor or psychiatrist to help them learn to deal with this pain. Having kids in the middle of a divorce can be one of the hardest things that they are ever put through. Both paren...
