One thing that I have learned over the years is that happiness is a choice and one that we must learn to embrace. I know what you are saying at this point; I can’t make myself happy, well actually you can. A person can learn how to be happy once again.
I have been through the worse of it, as most of my friends and family know. I have been through the death of a child, two failed marriages, a mixed family, a tornado eating my house, and lots of failed careers. Yup, that is me, one big crap storm after another, but I have learned to embrace the shit storms, and how to be happy once again.
Most of you who have landed on this page landed here because you want to learn how to be happy once again, you long for that freedom that comes with a smile on your face. I can tell you from experience that you can be happy again if you chose to be happy.
It is what it is
I don’t know why I love to say this. Maybe it is because it is true, and you can not change everything so you have to learn to deal with it. If you dwell on things then you can’t be happy so starting today, stop dwelling and let that crap go!
Why worry about the things that you cannot change
There are instances in our lives that we cannot change no matter how much we try, and these things can drag us down and cause us to lose our happiness. A death in the family or a life altering event like a job loss is something that we can not change so learning how to be happy once again will help you to stop worry about all those things that you have absolutely no control over. Look at the picture and tell yourself that you can’t change what happened and there is lots of times when you are sad but you gotta remember all the good times and how to pull yourself out of this slump.
Focus on the Positives
I don’t care how hard it is but things could be worse so focus on the positives since they are what is going to keep you going. The positives can be anything from being able to buy your favorite brand of cologne to having your job one more day. Whatever it is that you have today just focus on that to make you happy at this very instant.
Smile
When you feel like you are becoming overwhelmed with life, just smile. Smile as often as you can, at things that matter and those that do not. Just smile.
Learning how to be happy once again takes time but you can do it. I believe in you. I am not telling you to stop taking antidepressants, if that is what you doctor told you to do. I am telling you that you have to get in the right mind-set. Do not let things continue to drag you down.
